Shawna Lee, thank you for making our model look absolutely fabulous for the show. The strong brows and deep burgundy lips were perfectly accented by the espresso eye shadow.
Raise your hand if you love MAC! The makeup for this shoot was all courtesy of MAC Cosmetics. If you want to achieve this look, Shawna prepped our model with the MAC Studio Sculpt 15 foundation in the needed areas, MAC select Cover under the eyes, followed by a light dusting of Mac pressed powder.
The eyes of the model are, to me, the most important feature of a woman. Shawna used a white frost eyeshadow over the eye lids and in the inside corner of the eyes as a base colour. Creating a soft smoky eye, Electra Silver Eyeshadow is placed on the lid, crease and along the lash line, followed by Mystery Eyeshadow in the outer corner of lid and into the crease to define the look. She finished the look by adding two coats of black mascara on the top eyelashes only.
The beautiful deep burgundy lipstick is called Face Atelier Revenge.
I have been asked by many makeup artists, what’s the best thing for me to do to get into an agency like Judy INC?, so I asked Shawna who has been represented since 2003. She said:
I brought my portfolio in to the agency and met with the owner, David Clemmer, a couple of times before they signed me to their assistant list.
First time he made some portfolio suggestions, what else I could add to my book etc.
Because I modeled for Elite as a teen, I had good contacts with the cities top Fashion photographers, to build my portfolio with and access to great models and wardrobe stylists.
Then after the second time I met with Judy, I was on my way out of a meeting with another agency and my phone rang and David said, "Alright! Let’s get your cards made!"
I started assisting on jobs in the summer during busy season and doing small shoots, paid testings for modeling agencies and with time and experience the jobs got bigger and became more frequent.
My work has been featured in Zink Magazine, Eyecandy Magazine, Dressed To Kill Mag, Elle Canada and have had the opportunity to work with musicians such as Emily Haines (Metric), Paul Banks (Interpol) , Tegan + Sarah, Sum 41, and K.OS. I have also worked with celebrities such as Jane Krawkowski (30 Rock), Alexandra Richards (Keith Richards daughter), Sydney Crosby, and actress Amber Heard.
For all you aspiring makeup artists, what agency do you want to work for? And if you were working for a leading agency, which celebrity would you do you happy dance for when you found out you were going to be working with him/her?
